Speaking today Alex said “I am delighted that these lads have agreed to join us.

“It didn’t take much persuasion as they all understand the plans and aspirations that our club has and want to be part of it.

“The boys that played here last season have also been great to work with and have really made me feel welcome at the club.

“We got our pre-season underway a few weeks ago and the commitment from the team has been superb.

“All the squad have worked really hard and the coaching team is doing an excellent job to make sure that all the players are fit for the start of the season.

“The new boys that have joined us have gelled really well the existing players and I am really excited about next season at the club.”

Monday 22nd June 2015

Pre-season training kicked off at the weekend at Marine Drive with Alex and his coaching team putting the players through their paces.

Speaking after the session manager Alex Cunningham said "I am delighted with the first session of the pre-season.

"It's always difficult to get the lads back together after a break but we want to be competing next season for the league title so it's important I have a squad that is fit and up to the challenge.

"Since coming in the boys have been great to work with they have all showed me that they are 100% committed to the Strollers and want to win cups and hopefully the title.

"Next season will be a difficult season for any club hoping to win the League as there are many good teams capable of winning.

"All we can do is do everything in our power to be prepared for the season and that starts with a good pre-season and getting the groundwork done early.

"I hope to be in a position to announce new signings in the near future and I am very much looking forward to the future at the Strollers."

CIVIL SERVICE STROLLERS FC

FIRST FOOTBALL CLUB IN EDINBURGH TO TACKLE

SECTARIANISM.

Civil Service Strollers is the only football club in Edinburgh that has received funding from the Scottish Government, administered by Voluntary Action Fund to undertake workshops on understanding Sectarianism and how it affects the community.  We recognise the problem Sectarianism plays in dividing communities particularly in relation to football allegiance and have set out to work with players and the local community to participate in informal education workshops that help increase their understanding of the issue and the negative impact on everyday interactions.

The workshops will culminate into a public event inviting a range of community stakeholders to witness the showcasing of Civil Service Strollers workshop participants journey on achieving its aim of none tolerance to sectarian behaviours in their football community.

“It's about Football Clubs taking a stance to address sectarian issues that exist  by bringing everyone together to understand the impact of Sectarian behaviours on day to day relationships ” Club Spokesman.

Anyone interested in taking part in weekly community workshops should contact the Club Secretary Keith Stewart on 07402521912.
